At the popular 2nd edition was written in 2000, this edition contains vast amounts of new information in all chapters. In addition, there are 6 completely new chapters (Longstanding Groin Pain, Recovery, Core Stability, Supplements, Principles of Diagnosis: Imaging and Investigations, The Preparticipation Physical Examination). This 3rd edition is remarkable for its full-colour artwork. Thus, all the physical examination and treatment figures have been expanded and re-shot in colour, there are over 100 purpose-drawn colour line drawings (by renowned medical illustrator Vicky Earle) and there over 100 new MRIs and other diagnostic images. This book raises the bar on graphics designed not for decoration, but for illustration. As Jenny McConnell says in her foreword to this 3rd edition, the text 'provides the latest evidence-based information without losing its practical clinical appeal'.
