  • Who needs this?

I am a retired marine electrician with a background also in the motor trade. When I started we had points and the occasional magneto, then came electronic ignition systems. All of these could be diagnosed with experience and minimal test equipment. Along came ignition amps and stepper motor controled carbs, with mechanical air mass sensors. Suddenly it wasn't posible to poke around and fix problems, so diagnosing faults needed the right equipment. Though the equipment could be bought the training couldn't unless you worked for a dealership. This book fills all the gaps, it explaines why we now have more computing power on a family car than took man to the moon. It explaines why electronic diagnostic equipment is essential, and also how to use the equipment and interpret the readings and ...

  • How To Use Automotive Diagnostic Scanners by Tracy Martin

A superb book for anyone involved in car DIY and wishing to take it to the next level with a variety of OBD scanners, from bargain basement to professional-grade. Aside from the in-depth guidance, there is a wealth of images and pictorials to give a better idea of how these devices function. As recommended by Scotty Kilmer too.

  • recommended for anyone looking to buy a automotive diagnostic scanner

A very interesting and informative book to read not for the faint hearted as this book gives vast amounts of information which will require a fair amount of time and at least a basic understanding of the modern engine and ecu but this book explains things clearly to understand how to correctly use and understand the automotive diagnostic scanner and the results All in all a great purchase
